Founded in 1933 as the American Military History Foundation, renamed the American Military Institute in 1939, and renamed the Military History Society again in 1990, the Society is engaged in stimulating and promoting the study of military history. Its membership (today more than 2,700 people) includes many of the world's most outstanding scientists, soldiers and citizens interested in military history. The Society regularly holds international conventions at which speakers from the world's leading universities as well as independent experts speak.
